Peak experiences are poor nutrition. They are spices. Ordinary days are the grain: the dish, the queue, the same street. Traditions that last know this. They put the sacred on a clock so it has to meet the unimpressive.
If your spirituality only works on retreat, it is a holiday. Holidays are allowed. They are not a path. The path is whether you can be slightly less cruel on a dull afternoon.
An ordinary day is not a failure of meaning. It is where meaning would have to live.
