Rahu in the twelfth house is often accused of packing a bag it has not yet bought.

Within Jyotish

Vyaya is expenditure, sleep, the foreign, the unseen cost, the cell, the hospital as a room (not a treatment), moksha as a question. Traditional notes on Rahu here mention foreign residence, unusual spiritual appetites, losses that do not look like losses, and a pull toward what is off the map. Foreign settlement is a possible weather, not a visa. Plenty of twelfth-Rahu lives never leave the postcode and still live elsewhere in the mind.

How it can feel

Elsewhere is a beautiful country. It does not do the washing. The person may romanticise exile, sleep as escape, or spirituality as an airport. Clematis, in the mood room, knows a version of this. Again: rhyme, not identity.

A constructive reading

Constructively this can be a real capacity for retreat, for living well in a foreign climate, for letting go of a self that was too tight. The twelfth is a letting-go room. Rahu makes letting-go look like a shopping list of other worlds. Choose one world. Inhabit it.

Escape is a direction. It is not a home.

The shadow, without the cartoon

The shadow is the spiritual souvenir, or loss treated as glamour. If you are isolated and unsafe, get a human. If you are only in love with departure, stay one season and see what remains.

Ask whether you want a foreign life or a different self. The twelfth will not sort that for you. A year of ordinary days might.
