Vyaya is loss, sleep, the foreign, the unseen cost, the cell. Traditional interpretations of Shani here speak of disciplined solitude, delayed rest, work in far or enclosed places, and a serious approach to what is given up. Foreignness may be literal or interior. Do not assume a passport. Do not assume a prison.

How it can feel

Alone can feel like the only honest climate. Other people are expensive. Sleep may be rationed as if it were a luxury. The spiritual life, if any, looks like labour rather than glow.

A constructive reading

Constructively: a real retreat practice, a capacity to work far from applause, a clean relationship with loss. The twelfth with Saturn can make a person who knows how to close a door without slamming it.

Solitude is a faculty. Isolation is a climate that forgot it had a door.

The shadow, without the cartoon

The shadow is exile as a personality, or refusing help because needing it looks like a twelfth-house leak. If you are cut off and unwell, this is not a spiritual credential. Contact a human. If you are only tired of noise, a timed retreat is allowed.
