Traditional interpretations say Year 9 is ending, forgiveness, the wide view, the clearing of the stage. It is romanticised. Endings are work. They include giving the book back, sending the email, grieving the version of you that needed the old plot.
Resignation is not completion. Wild Rose names the first; this year asks for the second. Close one real thing. Then rest without immediately auditioning a new epic.
