People want a referee. Dasha or transit — which one wins. The internet will sell you a hierarchy. Different schools already disagree, and honest practice tends to use both without pretending the disagreement is solved.
A dasha, in the Vimshottari grammar most widely taught, is a season of life keyed to the natal Moon: a planet’s time to speak, then a sub-lord’s accent. It describes which part of the chart is currently allowed a microphone. A transit is the sky this week — Saturn pressing a house, a node on a natal planet, Jupiter looking at a lagna. It is weather passing over a landscape that already has a climate.
Weather, and who is outdoors
A useful framing, not a law: a transit can provide weather. A dasha may describe which part of your life is actually outdoors. Saturn transiting the tenth is one story if you are in a Saturn dasha and another if you are in a Venus dasha with Saturn as a distant uncle. The same storm, different amount of skin. Schools that weight transits more heavily — Tajika, some Western-influenced doors, mundane work — are not being frivolous. Schools that will barely mention a transit until the dasha agrees are not being superstitious. They are naming different clocks.
You can have a thunderstorm over a house whose occupants are in the cellar. You can also have a clear sky over someone who is, this decade, living on the roof.
CapSage will not appoint a universal hierarchy. We will say: if the week is loud and the dasha is quiet, do not panic the glyph — the transit-no-panic page exists for that itch. If the dasha is heavy and the transits look polite, do not take the politeness as a pardon. Read the season, then the weather, then the life. Timing is two clocks. Pretending one of them is a referee is how people outsource a week they still have to live.

What a Dasha Planet Owns, and Where It Sits
A period-planet always makes two claims at once: the bhavas it rules, and the bhava it occupies. Practical dasha work is the art of holding both without letting one erase the other.
