Chaldean vs Pythagorean Numerology
Different alphabets, different obsessions. Pick a school, or compare them. Do not blend them into a smoothie and call it fate.

Pythagorean practice is the one most apps quietly use: A=1, B=2 … I=9, then the alphabet repeats. Names and dates reduce to 1–9, with optional master numbers. Chaldean practice uses another table, generally 1–8, and then lingers on the two-digit total.
They will disagree
Your Pythagorean Expression may be 3 while your Chaldean name number is 23/5. That is not the cosmos stuttering. That is two grammars. Asking which is correct is a category error unless you have already chosen the job you wanted the number to do.
Pythagorean is often cleaner for dates (Life Path, Personal Year). Chaldean is often richer for names. CapSage keeps both on the shelf. We will not average them.
If a reader cannot tell you which alphabet they used, the number is theatre.
Practical takeaway: write both calculations out once, with the table visible. Then read the essay that matches the method. Mixing a Chaldean compound meaning with a Pythagorean Life Path in one sentence is how nonsense is born.

What Is Chaldean Numerology?
An older letter-to-number map, a love of compound numbers, and a lot of later Victorian packaging.

Why Chaldean Numerology Does Not Use a Simple 1–9 Alphabet Sequence
Because 9 is held aside, and because the school is not trying to be a tidy modulo-9 machine.
