Nina Simone: voice, Mars, and the refusal
21 February 1933, Tryon. A public voice. Time of birth is disputed enough to keep us honest.

Nina Simone’s work is heat with a spine: the voice, the politics, the refusal to be decorative. Mars and Saturn are easy metaphors. Easy metaphors are how chart studies go bad.
Because times dispute, the rising is not a fact in this archive. We can speak of generation weather, of Venus-Mars as the craft of a performer, and we stop before we invent a tenth-house story from an hour we do not trust.
The point of a disputed-time study is the badge. If you cannot say 'disputed,' you should not publish the houses.
